Dr. Kristi Freeman, a native San Diegan, has had a love for animals her entire life. As a child, she would spend hours riding her horse Speedy through the foothills of Mount Helix. She dreamed of one day becoming an equine veterinarian.
Kristi graduated from Christian High School and from Point Loma College with a Bachelor of Science, cum laude, in Biology and Chemistry.
Her plans to go into the veterinary medicine met a slight detour. Following graduation, she spent time in Ecuador as a missionary before returning to work as an assistant laboratory manager. She earned a Medical Technology degree through the Grossmont Hospital internship program and became a medical technologist at the San Diego Blood Bank performing disease testing, unit processing, hematology and stem cell processing.
However, when veterinary medicine continued to tug at her heart, Kristi decided to rekindle her dream. She was accepted into the University of California, Davis, School of Veterinary Medicine. Following four years of intensive study and field work, Kristi earned her doctorate in veterinary medicine in June 2001.
Kristi returned to San Diego and worked as an equine veterinarian for El Cajon Valley Veterinary Hospital. Then a funny thing happened on the way to her dream profession. In 2002, she felt called to branch out into a unique, exclusive practice of home euthanasia and hospice.
There was a large unmet need in San Diego County for home euthanasia and hospice and many clients encouraged her to fill this need. She took a leap of faith, becoming the first home euthanasia and hospice practice in San Diego County. She counts herself very blessed to be able to assist people and their pets during such a difficult time.
Kristi and her husband live in the east county of San Diego, where she loves running, hiking and tending to her organic garden. Kristi enjoys hiking the Grand Canyon and in 2008, she and her cousin completed the grueling hike from south rim to north rim and back in less than 24 hours.
Kristi strives to make your pet's last journey a calm and peaceful transition in the comfort of the home they've loved and shared with you.
